The Green Bridge is a speculative spatial intervention that addresses the disconnection of Te Awa Kairangi The Hutt River from the heart of Lower Hutt city. It aims to extend the current recreational use of Riddiford Gardens to facilitate a greater connection with the city's natural asset, the river.
The project has an additional focus on protecting and enhancing the ecological values of the river corridor, by planting local native species via ‘vertical garden’ and ‘living wall’ technologies integrated throughout the bridge's
infrastructure.
The project aims to cultivate a multi-purpose recreational space for both humans and more-than-humans, that works to
strengthen the river-city bond
